QUEANBEYAN PLAYERS STAR FOR THE METEORS
The Meteors have had a successful start in the WNCL. Queanbeyan players Em Preston, Lisa Kuschert and Charlotte Anneveld have made major contributions to the Meteors success.
Against the SA Scorpions the Meteors played one 20/20 which they won and two 50 over games with a loss and a win.
In the first 50 over game Anneveld dismissed Scorpions big hitting opener Woerner and Preston took two wickets. The final score for the Scorpions was 3/301. Preston and Kuschert came together when the score was 5/145 and put on a 100 run partnership with Preston scoring 63 and Kuschert 39. The wickets then fell steadily and the Meteors fell 37 runs short to be 10/264.
In game 2 the Meteors amassed a WNCL record and were 3/309 after the 50 overs. Preston and Kuschert produced a 64 run partnership with Preston scoring 25 n/o and Kuschert 38 n/o.
Anneveld and Preston bowling was tight and accurate which put pressure on the Scorpions players. Once the openers were dismissed the Scorpions fell behind on the run rate to finish with 9/220 and the Meteors won by 89 runs. Anneveld finished with 1/29 and Preston 2/31.
