Hi Everyone,

to help out In the past 4 years our club has been participating in the Annual Riverside Plaza Carparkiing Fundraiser. This year Riverside Plaza is supporting the CREATE Foundation and we have again been invited to assist.
The CREATE foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve the lives of children and young people in foster, residential or kinship care. Right now there are 32,000 children in care across Australia and each year this number grows nationally by over 10%.
The club is lookng for volunteers to give up an hour or so of their time to participate in this more than worthwhile fundraiser. As an added bonus Riverside Plaza will donate to our club 50c for every $1 we collect.
In conjunction with Plaza management, we have been allocated the following dates and times - Thursday 17th (5.30pm - 8.30pm), Saturday 19th (11.30am - 2.30pm), Sunday 20th (11.30am - 2.30pm). In addition to these times, we are also looking at Tuesday 22nd & Wednesday 23rd (12n - 2pm) as possible extra days if we have enough volunteers.
In regards to Saturday 19th, the men's teams will still be involved in matches, so I am hoping that the members in our ladies team (including family & friends) can fill the breach on that day.
Last year the club raised over $1500 and our aim is to collect $2000 this year.
If you can assist or know of someone who can assist, then please let me know and provide me with your preferred times. (preferrably by return email or give me a call on 0416 051 930).
One last item, the club will be having a Xmas BBQ at the Roos club on Saturday 19th, commencing about 7pm. All players, family & friends are invited to come along.
Look forward to seeing you there.
Hi All,
Update
To date only a few people have volunteered to assist in the fundraiser for Riverside Plaza. We need at least another 12 people to put their hands up to help. All that is involved is standing at the entrance of the plaza (right next to the appropriate signage) with a smile and people will gladly drop coins into the collection bucket. You are not required to approach people or spruik or the like.
It is an opportunity to not only help raise funds for the CREATE foundation, but also to continue the promotion of our club to the community. Our club has built a great reputation on being civic minded and an active member of the community and we are highly regarded in this stead.
The club is able to keep our fees down because of the community work we do. Local businesses see us as an organisation worth supporting and therefore the sponsorship we receive goes a long way towards covering our operating costs. To be quite blunt, without these sponsorships, your fees would double.
Over the past 5 years nearly the same people volunteer each year. It is now time for other club members to put up their hand to participate in these activities. All we are asking is an hour of your time so why not get one of your mates and form a team.
Since we began our involvement I have been actively involved with this activity each year. It has alway been very enjoyable experience seeing the joy and generosity of the Queanbeyan Community. It brings a very warm feeling to the heart.
Please help us help them.
Ron Bates Secretary
PS. Don't forget to wear your club shirt on the day.
